# Data Masking

**Workspace Admins** and **DBAs** can [configure data masking policy](/security/data-masking/overview) to prevent unauthorized access to the sensitive data. Hovering over the eye icon reveals the masking reason.

When user exports the data, Bytebase still respects the masking policy to mask exported columns if enforced.
