What is the Google Play Target SDK 36+ requirement deadline?

Google Play requires all published apps to target the latest Android API level (Target SDK 36+ / Android 16+) to remain visible to new users on the Play Store.

From Aug 31, 2026, if your target API level is not within 1 year of the latest Android release, you won't be able to update your app.

Starting August 31, 2026:
New apps and app updates must target Android 16 (API level 36) or higher to be submitted to Google Play; except for Wear OS, and Android Automotive OS apps, which must target Android 15 (API level 35) or higher, and Android TV and Android XR apps, which must target Android 14 (API level 34) or higher

What is the Google Play 16 KB memory page size requirement, and is my app affected?

Google Play requires all Android apps containing native C/C++ (NDK) code to support 16 KB memory page sizes. Apps configured strictly for 4 KB memory pages will experience critical crashes on newer 16 KB hardware architectures and will fail Google Play Store verification.

Starting February 1, 2027:
If your app doesn't not support 16 KB memory page sizes, you will not be able to release app updates to production on Google Play.
