Deli Zhao is now the chief scientist at Alibaba DAMO Academy. I am the founder of Alibaba's Vision Foundation Model team ( 通义万相), the Embodied AI team, and the AI-for-Science team at Alibaba DAMO Academy.
Working with Dr. Jingren Zhou,
my team pioneered the development of Alibaba's first-generation foundation models for image and video generation.
Recently, my team at DAMO Academy also released the robotics brain foundation model RynnBrain and the robotics system-level protocol RynnRCP.
In the AI-for-Science direction, we released the virtual cell foundation model Lingshu-Cell, the material discovery foundation model Elements, and the AI agent ElementsClaw.
Before joining Alibaba, I worked at HTC and Xiaomi as the research director for six years.
I also spent six wonderful years doing research in the Visual Computing Group of Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA) and in the Multimedia Lab (MMLab) at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK),
working with Prof. Xiaoou Tang.
Besides, I am also interested in the fundamental principle of deep learning (two theoretical papers coworking with Prof. Michael Jordan).
I have performed research on AI for nearly two decades,
now mainly focusing on generative models, foundation models, and system development across the domains of computer vision, robotics, biological AI, and materials.
Beyond AI, I have also long been following the development and application of blockchain technology, particularly its potential in building AI infrastructure and the Agent Internet.
