Why should I add a Omlet Coop Light?

There are two main reasons that your chickens and you will love a Coop Light.

Firstly, having a light in the coop will encourage the chickens to return to their house when it gets dark. This is especially good if you have one or two hens that tend to stay out longer than the rest.

Secondly, it’s useful to have a light in the coop if you want to check on your hens when it’s dark, maybe as you come home from work or just before you go to bed. The hens won’t be bothered by you turning on the light for a minute and peeking into the coop.

Why is my device showing asleep?

This is to help prolong battery life. You can still send commands to the Door and it will respond to them when it next wakes up (Every 10 minutes). The Door will continue to open and close according to the settings you have saved.

You can turn off Sleep mode by switching to mains power, which we recommend to get the most out of the Smart Features.

How do I update the App?

Depending on your phone settings, the App will update automatically. You can also check for updates manually via your phone App store.

Can I open the door manually?

Yes, there is a manual mode where the door opens and closes only when you press the button. For safety and peace of mind, there is also a built-in failsafe system for opening the door completely by hand. Check the instruction manual to find out how to do this.

Can I share access to my door?

You can invite anyone you like to have access to your Smart Autodoor via the Omlet App, and decide what level of access to give them. For more details, see our article on Sharing your Smart devices with friends and family

How do I change how long the Coop Light comes on for?

You can change how long the coop light stays on for by clicking on the setting icon for the autodoor. Then select Coop Light settings. You can select the time from the “Maxiumum time on:” dropdown box. If you are using your door on battery, then you might want to reduce this time to 5 minutes to reduce the battery usage

The coop light uses a LED light at 1.5 watt. That is the equivalent of a 15 watt light bulb.

Can I fit my Omlet Autodoor vertically?

No, the motor in the door is designed to open the door horizontally. It is also important to note that the crush detector won’t work properly when mounted vertically as chickens could sit on it and thereby activate it the whole time which would prevent the door from attempting to close.

Can I change the WiFi network?

Tap into Door settings for your Door, Select “Update Wi-Fi”. Whilst on this page in the App, On your Control Panel navigate to Wi-Fi in the menu and press and hold ok.

Depending on your firmware version, the screen may show “Enabled”. If this is the case change the selection to “Discovery Mode”, and then press and hold “OK”

Once the control panel displays “Discovery Mode” press the connect button on your app screen.

How long do the batteries last, and when should I change them?

4 good quality AA batteries of the same brand, same type and same energy level should power the Autodoor for 2+ months. If you’re not using the smart functionality, and the control panel is not connected to wifi, then we estimate you should see around 6 months of battery life.

We would suggest changing the batteries when the control panel is showing the level as 5% or lower. It’s good to check the batteries at least every month to make sure they are in good condition.

Why isn't the control panel found when I try to add a new device?

If your control panel is not found when you try to add a new device, it may not be in discovery mode. The control panel should display “Discovery Mode. Press OK to exit”. If this is not displaying, use the arrow buttons to navigate through the menu to the Wifi option, and then press and hold OK to re-enable discovery mode. Alternatively, you can perform a factory reset – note this will erase any settings you have customised on the control panel
